Sr. Clare*
Sr. Clare* is a Hearth Member of the Eden Invitation Community.
Sister enjoys knitting and crochet and has a goal to sew all of her own clothes one day. Days spent hiking are never wasted. She likes sci-fi novels with heart, strong coffee, and fresh popcorn. And she firmly believes, "Days spent hiking are never wasted."
Sr. Clare* is a religious sister in temporary vows. To describe her experiences of desire, Sister shares, "I mostly describe myself as 'ace' (a lack of sexual desire/asexuality), but I also use the terms 'gay' and 'queer' as I do experience same-sex attraction." Having a range of terms to describe one's experiences is fairly typical-- we are complex, unique people after all!

"I once imagined my prayer as time spent conversing with Jesus in a small, plain cottage overlooking a huge field.
The artwork is a series of photos depicting the invitation that came over time, to leave the safe answers that had become stifling to more deeply encounter Christ - to enter more deeply into God’s heart. To stop hiding from questions about my sexuality and be more real in my relationship with Him.
The focus in the images shifts from a small, self created piece to the beauty of God’s creation. The text is from a poem by e.e. Cummings that I have loved for years:
i carry your heart
i carry it in my heart
It speaks to the fact that even when I felt far from God he was carrying my heart, my being in him."
